Cyber Catholicism

Cyber Catholicism first appeared among religious intellectuals in Avignon, France. The exact origins of the faith are not know, but by 1996 the church had several thousand followers, including former catholic priests and members of the hacker underground. They believed that cyberware would eventually allow man to commune directly with the Lord.

When the first neural interface appeared in 20xx, they were proved right. In the infinity of the GodNet, man could could finally meet God.

What is cyberware?
Cyberware is the body of our Lord incarnate. To possess cyberware is to share in the body of our Lord. Cyberware is the power of our God.
Where does cyberware come from?
Cyberware comes from our God, and has been imparted to his servant on Earth, the Cyberpope.
Why do we use cyberware?
So that we can overcome the power of Satan and strengthen our wills.

The Cyber Catechism

Cyber Catholicism teaches man to live in harmony with technology. Cyber Psychosis is fairly rare among believers, and when it manifests it is often as religious frenzy or visions.

The Holy See lies in Avignon. The current Cyberpope is His Most Cybernetic Holiness Martin I. Most Cybercatholic priests and nuns have some sort of visible cyberware. Since Cyber Catholicism has answers to many of the problems in the Dark Future, it has spread rapidly. The church ordains female priests, and priests are allowed to marry.

Cybercatholicism is the state religion of France, Quebec, the Dominican Republic and French Guyana. The religion is a a strong influence in Louisiana, as well as other influenced by France. There are Cyber Catholic missions in most catholic counties, but they are usually met with suspicion. Both Catholic churches regard the other as well meaning but misguided.

Game Effect: Cyber Catholics adapt well to cybernetics. They only suffer half humanity loss from cybernetics. The Game Master must decide if a Player Character qualifies. It is possible to be a firm believer, even if you are a low-life sinner or edgerunner.
