Slovakia is also known as the Japan of Europe.
When the Communist regimes across Europe fell in the 1990's Slovakia declared
itself independent in a fit of separatistic nationalism. As the joys of
national independence died down, the young republic found itself practically
without any domestic industry whatsovever. Reduced to eke out a miserable
existence supplying prostitutes to the wealthy western Europe and smuggling
surplus arms and third rate steroids things looked grim indeed.
That was until Arasaka arrived. Seeing that the Slovak Republic was an
excellent sorce for labour and a foothold in europe the Cherry Blossom
Corporation located their Arasaka Automobile Plant No.7 in Bratislava in 2003
and a
minor small arms plant as well as running a massive recruiting campaign
in 2009.
The sudden influx in work and money soon brought the Slovak people back in
business. Soon other Japanese corps followed. Kanawa Heavy Industries arrived
in 2005, Akagi Recycling in 2005 to just name two.
Anything Japanese was great in the eyes of the Slovak people.
Today most young people speka at least some Japanese and many affect Japanese
style and fashions.
After the Corpwar between Militech and Arasaka in 2025 forced Arasaka to split
its assets many of its subdivisions were bought by the Slovakian governemnt
and restarted as Slovak Corporations. It should be noted, however, that Arasaka
got to buy sizeable amounts of stock at very reasonable prices...
In late 2025 a massive earthquake hit Japan causing untold misery and hitting
it right in the wallet. Slovakia however immideately stepped in, providing
humanitarian and finacial aid to their Asian friend, further enhancing the
great relations between these nations.
