World : Nations : The United States of America

In 1996, the United States of America split up to form Gods Country, The First Sex Confederacy, The New England Federation and The Republic of Texas.

In 2022 the entire cabinet was assassinated by an unknown group. In response to this, a cabal of the most powerful corporations in America declared that they would form a government, effectively making USA the worlds first true corporate state ever: The Incorporated States of America.

To the average Cyberpunker this is a Bad Thing but on the whole the American public benefited from this since they could sell their proxy votes in return for sponsored housing, food and television, thus enabling people to live secure if slightly dull lives. (Sure beats getting eaten by boostergangs!)

This happy state existed for 3 years. On Christmas Eve 2025, a series nuclear devices detonated in the San Andreas fault, causing California to go Venice and hitting the ruling Corporations right in the wallet. As it turned out this was all the doing of General Willis McKnight of the USAF who, holed up in the subterranean NORAD HQ in Colorado, had complete control of the US Nuclear arsenal. Activating codewords implanted during MK-Ultra, a massive revolt immediately ensued as the former US army forces now absorbed by the corporate armies reverted to its old allegiance.

General McKnight then proceeded to form the Provisional Military Government of USA, and promised that "elections will be held shortly".
